US Researches have found that money is a very powerful incentive for weight loss. If people are reminded of the cash they stand to lose the motivation levels will be higher.

Two methods were tried, one a lottery based method and the other one participants would invest between 1cent and $3 a day. With the lottery based system, participants would only be allowed to collect their winnings if they met their weight loss goal. With the investment method participants who didn't reach their weight loss goal would lose their investment, and participants that achieved their goal would earn an extra bonus.

57 participants were assigned for the research task in 2 groups. Participants taking part in the lottery group earned $378.49 and lost about 13 pounds while the investment group earned $272.80 and lost 14 pounds.

The big question is: if the money stops, will the weight gain start?

Are you getting the feeling that the year is never going to end? Well the economy is not the only thing slowing down, the earth is also slowing down. This has created a requirement for timekeepers to add an extra second to their atomic clocks in order to compensate for the earth's rotation slowing down.

An International consortium made the decision to add an extra second to the atomic clocks. An extra second will be added on December 31st after 18:59:59 and before 19:00 EST. The leap year is already longer and by adding this second it will make it the longest year since 1992.

An amusement park in South Korea has taken the festive season to a new level with a school for Santas where they get great tips on how to be a good Santa Claus.

On Wednesday, November 26, Santa school students were getting together to master the skill required at Everland Park, 1 hour's drive for Seoul. They were riding roller coasters in sted of a sleigh, had to master dance moves as well as the Santa chuckle.
All students were given a graduation diploma at the end of the training.
